What are the top colleges to major in history?

My boyfriend is starting to look for colleges (finally) and we’re trying to find something close together. I’m going to the University of Iowa for a Creative Writing Major, and I know they have History Majors available there, but does anyone know how this program ranks compared to other colleges’?
He’s mostly interested in Current World History, if you can major in such thing, but if not he’s pretty much stuck on history in general.
So. What are the best colleges in America for a History Major, and what are the best ones close to the University of Iowa?

There is no RELIABLE ranking system of universities by major…there are only opinions, some notoriously biased and/or unreliable.
Almost every college/university in the country offers history, although their individual course offerings vary considerably. Thus, the courses they offer is what your boyfriend should be looking at.
A good starting point to find a listing of colleges by state is, which links to college sites and provides contact information as well.
